Co-Ops


A long standing advocate for the sharing economy, Martha has worked with co-ops for more than 25 years. She has lived co-operative values for most of her life: living in a housing co-op and working with worker co-ops in Toronto and Zimbabwe.

Working with socially-minded enterprises, Martha assists in setting up alternative, community-based business models. Committed to co-operative values, she provides advice on incorporation and co-operative governance to provincial and federally incorporated entities. As a human rights officer/mediator with the BC Human Rights Commission she assisted many Co-op Housing community members to resolve disputes.

Prior to her legal career Martha was a cook and worked for several years in the industry. She has a particular interest in food security and the sharing economy. Clients include: Co-operative Auto Network, the United Community Services Co-op, Glen Valley Organic Farm, Yarrow Ecovillage, Restoration Co-op and Shift Cargo Delivery.
